Métro Boulot Dodo is a performance in four movements sonically exploring the evolution of work and labor from nature to industry, into its present form. Borrowing from the French expression, the title refers to the dominating presence of work in our lives and its prioritization in the United States as the country pursues its shift from a collective experience, to the hyper individualistic. In investigating the changing soundscape, the work aims to collectively imagine what the future can hold as we begin the shift into a more techno driven future.
Performers: Anthony Almendárez (trumpet), Sonia Flores (bass), Andrew Martinez (guitar, clarinet), and Gabriel Martinez (percussion).
